Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds round steaks, diced fine
  • 1 tablespoon bacon grease
  • 2 1/2 cups water,boiling
  • 6 tablespoons rice
  • 2 large dried red chilies (whole and de-seeded)
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups onions,chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a very large skillet,

  • Step 2: Brown the steak in the bacon drippings.

  • Step 3: Add 1 1/2 cups of boiling water and the rice. Cover and allow to simmer over very low heat until the rice is tender about 20 minutes

  • Step 4: Meanwhile

  • Step 5: Put the chilies into a bowl and pour in the second cup of boiling water over them and allow to stand until cool.

  • Step 6: Then, hand-squeeze the chilies until the water is red.

  • Step 7: Add the flour to the chili water and blend which should make it thicken. Discard the chili hulls.

  • Step 8: Add the chili water to the beef in the skillet and also add the salt and onions.

  • Step 9: Allow to simmer for about 10 more minutes (until onions are tender) and serve.
