Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 onion (large onion, cut in half and thinly sliced)
  • 3 to 4 cups mushrooms, sliced (of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Coarse salt and cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 3/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (or red wine, a splash)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a skillet, saute the onion and mushrooms in olive oil over medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 2: Add the liquid smoke, barbecue sauce, and wine, stirring to deglaze the delicious browned bit from the bottom of the skillet.

  • Step 3: Cook until onions and mushrooms are tender and sauce begins to thicken about 10 minutes.
