Step 1: Line 12 muffin tins with paper liners. Set oven rack to second-lowest position. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: In a medium bowl combine the bran with buttermilk; allow to sit for 5-7 minutes. In another bowl whisk oil with egg, sugar and vanilla; mix in mashed banana.
Step 3: In a large bowl combine the flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and raisins.
Step 4: Mix the bran mixture with the banana mixture until combined; gently mix into dry ingredients using a wooden spoon (mix just until combined, do not overmix!).
Step 5: Spoon into muffin tins 3/4 full. Bake for about 18-20 minutes or until muffins are done
