The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins (sultana)
  • 1 1/2 cups currants
  • 12 ounces brewed tea (cold)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place the fruit in a bowl and pour the tea over it. Cover it and let it set 6 to 8 hours (or overnight).

  • Step 2: Heat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Step 3: After the fruit has finished setting, beat the two eggs and stir them into the fruit.

  • Step 4: Add the rest of the ingredients, stirring well.

  • Step 5: Put batter into two 8 x 4 inch greased and floured loaf pans.

  • Step 6: Bake for 1 1/2 hours or until finished.

  • Step 7: Remove from oven, cooling in pans for at least 10 minutes. Finish cooling on a wire rack.
