Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 ounces dry navy beans
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 cup onion, sliced
  • 1/4 pound pork loin (boneless, cut in small cubes)
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup molasses (dark)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak the beans overnight

  • Step 2: The next day, drain the beans and add fresh water to a 2 inch level above the beans.

  • Step 3: Add the pork, cover, and simmer over low heat ,do not boil

  • Step 4: Until just tender, about 1 hour.

  • Step 5: Drain, reserving 2 cups of the bean liquid.

  • Step 6: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

  • Step 7: Pour the beans into a 2 quart casserole dish.

  • Step 8: Combine the remaining ingredients and add to the beans.

  • Step 9: Mix well, then cover and bake for an hour.

  • Step 10: If necessary, add the bean liquid during cooking to thin.
