Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup water ,warm
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 1 egg, whisked, for wash
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix the warm water with the yeast and sugar then allow to proof

  • Step 2: Add oil flour salt; mix

  • Step 3: Cover let rise until double

  • Step 4: Take out and knead. Cover and allow to rise until double

  • Step 5: Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  • Step 6: Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and divide into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into an 8 inch rope and roll each piece like a snail shell

  • Step 7: Brush each knot with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  • Step 8: Let rise covered on cookie sheet

  • Step 9: Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
