  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal (or polenta)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (or white granulated sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (optional: yields a fluffier cornbread)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (shake before measuring)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 large eggs

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400

  • Step 2: Grease a 9 inch skillet or dish and place in oven to heat up

  • Step 3: Whisk together flour through to salt.

  • Step 4: Make a well and put in honey, buttermilk and eggs. Mix well then add the slightly cooled butter. Mix just to combine.

  • Step 5: Remove pan from oven and pour batter in. Bake until brown on top and a knife inserted in center comes out clean. about 20 minutes.
