  • 6 cups beef stock
  • 4 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 2 ounces bacon
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoons marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, smashed
  • 8 ounce link polish sausage, cubed
  • 1 pound potatoes ,peeled, cubed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) sauerkraut
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

How to Make

  • Step 1: Boil cabbage and potatoes in beef stock with spices for 30 minutes

  • Step 2: Meanwhile

  • Step 3: Saute bacon

  • Step 4: Add sausage cook until crisp

  • Step 5: Remove

  • Step 6: Add oil

  • Step 7: Add onions

  • Step 8: Cook until browned

  • Step 9: Add garlic

  • Step 10: Remove allspice and bay leaf

  • Step 11: Add onions to soup rinsing pan into cabbage

  • Step 12: Add sauerkraut and meats

  • Step 13: Simmer 10 minutes more

  • Step 14: Add milk and cream with flour mixed in cook 5 more minutes until thickened more

  • Step 15: Season
