Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 packet (500 grams) gnocchi (potato gnocchi)
  • 200 grams bacon rashers (middle cut specified - trimmed and finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 400 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 300 ml half and half cream (light cooking cream specified)
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves (fresh and chopped)
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Basil leaves, to garnish

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook gnocchi according to packet directions and then drain.

  • Step 2: Heat an oiled, large, non-stick frying pan over a medium heat and add bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until crisp and then add garlic and stir for 1 minute and then sStir in tomatoes, tomato paste and cream and bring to a boil.

  • Step 3: Remove pan from heat and stir in gnocchi and chopped basil and season with salt and pepper and pour into an ovenproof dish (8-cup capacity) and sprinkle with cheese.

  • Step 4: Cook in a hot oven (200°C) for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

  • Step 5: Garnish with basil leaves.
