Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR BROWNIE LAYER
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • FOR CHEESECAKE LAYER
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 2.5 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (very soft)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Butter or spray a 9x9" baking pan.

  • Step 3: Melt the butter.

  • Step 4: Using a wooden spoon, mix in the brown sugar and cocoa.

  • Step 5: Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well.

  • Step 6: Add vanilla, and mix to combine.

  • Step 7: In another bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking powder together.

  • Step 8: Combine with butter mixture, and spread evenly in the baking dish. Set aside.

  • Step 9: Melt the chocolate in the microwave.

  • Step 10: Place cream cheese, egg, sugar, vanilla and salt in a food processor, and process until smooth.

  • Step 11: Add melted chocolate, and process to combine.

  • Step 12: Spread cheesecake mixture evenly over the Brownie Layer.

  • Step 13: Bake in preheated oven for 40-45 minutes.

  • Step 14: Test with a toothpick (At most you should only get a few moist crumbs).

  • Step 15: Cool completely in pan, before cutting.

  • Step 16: Store in a sealed container, preferably in the refrigerator.

  • Step 17: Excellent cold or at room temperature!
