Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup onion, small
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 28 ounces tomatoes, crushed (1 can)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons capers
  • 3 tablespoons olives, sliced (stuffed green olives)
  • 8 ounces spaghetti, dry
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Sazon
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup red wine

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the spaghetti, drain.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile brown the beef.

  • Step 3: Add the onions, green bell peppers, garlic, tomato paste, bay leaf, Sazon, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  • Step 4: Cook for 3 minutes.

  • Step 5: Add dry red wine and reduce by half.

  • Step 6: Add the crushed tomatoes.

  • Step 7: Reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 minutes.

  • Step 8: Check for seasoning.

  • Step 9: Discard the bay leaf and add the capers and olives.

  • Step 10: Stir in the spaghetti and cheese.

  • Step 11: Serve immediately.
