Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound green string beans (fresh beans, ends nipped, cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 2 celery stalks (cleaned, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano minced (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
  • 1/2 medium red bell pepper (chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoon butter (optional or margarine)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring 3/4 inch of water in the bottom of a double boiler to a boil, place steamer top in the pan

  • Step 2: Add beans, celery and oregano to the top pan, cover and steam for 8 minutes add onions, red pepper continue steaming fot further 7 minutes

  • Step 3: Season with salt and pepper, add butter and serve
