Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 pounds sirloin beef (beef tips or 3 lbs stew meat)
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1⁄2 cup chopped celery
  • 1⁄2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon basil
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can (16 ounce) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cut beef into 1-inch cubes. Saute in oil until well browned.

  • Step 2: Add celery and green pepper and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add parsley, oregano, garlic powder, basil and chili powder. Cook 15 minutes over low heat, stirring often.

  • Step 4: Add tomatoes and water. Cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender. Remove cover during the last 10 minutes or so to allow the sauce to thicken.
