Step 1: Rinse sauerkraut in a colander and drain well. Place in serving bowl.
Step 2: Add ham, celery, green pepper and onion.
Step 3: Combine sugar, and vinegar in a small bowl. Stir until sugar is almost dissolved. Add apples and toss well, pour over sauerkraut.
Step 4: Toss and season to taste with salt and pepper.
Step 5: Serve chilled.
