Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup icing sugar (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (melted)
  • Sliced Almonds

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla

  • Step 2: Sift together flour and cocoa

  • Step 3: Blend flour mixture into creamed mixture

  • Step 4: Use about 1 tbsp of the mixture for each cookie, and shape into oval cones that are about 2 inches long

  • Step 5: Insert a ornament hanger, or a fine curved wire into the wide end of each cone

  • Step 6: Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 300 F for approximately 25 min, or until firm

  • Step 7: Let cool thoroughly

  • Step 8: Decorate one cookie at a time

  • Step 9: Spread each cookie with chocolate (cooled enough that it can be spread)

  • Step 10: Starting at the bottom of the cookie, press rows of nuts into the frosting, over lapping slightly, up to the top

  • Step 11: Chill until chocolate is set

  • Step 12: Tie pretty ribbons to the hangers
