Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups self raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine from flour to sugar and then rub in butter and then add water and milk and bring to a dough and knead until smooth.

  • Step 2: Divide into rolls and place into a greased cake tin and make a cross in each roll and then place into dutch oven and put hot coals or briquettes on top and bake for about 45 minutes.

  • Step 3: Check for doneness by tapping bottom ad you should have a hollow sound.

  • Step 4: Serve with butter, honey, vegemite or topping of choice with a cuppa or use to mop up the gravy of a dish or dunk into a soup.
