Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 800 grams potatoes (4 medium brushed)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • FOR SPICY SALT
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Peel potatoes and wash under cold water and then pat dry with absorbent paper.

  • Step 2: Using a 5mm vegetable grater, grate potatoes into long, thin strands and place on a tray lined with absorbent kitchen paper.

  • Step 3: Heat enough oil in a large wok to deep-fry over a high heat until hot.

  • Step 4: Add potatoes in four batches and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.

  • Step 5: Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.

  • Step 6: To make spicy salt, combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.

  • Step 7: Serve potato straw fries sprinkled with spicy salt.
