Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 80 grams filo pastry (8 sheets specified)
  • 100 grams unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2/3 cup pecan nuts (finely chopped)
  • Icing sugar, to serve
  • Cream, to serve
  • FOR FILLING
  • 1 can (800 grams) apple pie filling (sliced Ardmona Pie Fruit sliced apples specified)
  • 150 grams dried fruit ( fruit medley, dried 1 cup)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs (fresh)

How to Make

  • Step 1: To make the filling, place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix until just combined.

  • Step 2: Place on pastry sheet on a clean bendch and brush with butter and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon pecans and then repeat layering with filo, butter and pecans.

  • Step 3: Spoon filling lengthways dwn the centre of the pastry, to form a log shape (leaving a 10cm border on the long sides and 7cm on the short sides) and then fold over short sides, then starting on one long side, roll up to enclose filling.

  • Step 4: Place seam-side down on a large, greased oven tray and brush with remaining but and sprinkle with remaining nuts and then cook in a hot oven (200C) for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden and crisp.

  • Step 5: Stand for 10 minutes and serve warm or cold, lightly dusted with icing sugar and cream on the side.
