Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 pound chicken thighs
  • 1 pound chicken legs (your choice of 2 pounds chicken pieces, about 8 pieces)
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
  • I/2 cup flour (for dusting)
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup onion (half and slice)
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1 cup green pepper (cut in strips)
  • 1/3 cup sugar (white sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350

  • Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat oil lightly saute onions, celery and peppers, remove set aside

  • Step 3: Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper

  • Step 4: Combine flour and paprika, lightly dust chicken and brown, if needed add extra oil

  • Step 5: Remove pan from heat, place browned chicken into a 9x 13 baking dish or medium sized roaster, spread sauteed onions, celery and pepper over chicken

  • Step 6: In bowl combine white sugar, brown sugar, soy sauce, worcestershire, ketchup and water

  • Step 7: Place pan back on medium heat, pour sauce into skillet stirring to deglaze, whisking until nice and smooth, if sauce not to desired thickness you may thicken with a slurry of 1 tablespoon each of cornstarch and water

  • Step 8: Pour sauce over chicken, bake covered at 350 for 25 minutes or until chicken is done,
