  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups water,boiling
  • 1/2 cup white grits
  • 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese,shredded
  • 1 egg ,beaten
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add salt to boiling water

  • Step 2: Gradually stir in grits

  • Step 3: Cover cook on medium low for 10 minutes

  • Step 4: Stirring occasionally

  • Step 5: Add butter and cayenne cook 10 minutes more

  • Step 6: Beat in 1/2 the cheese and temper in the egg

  • Step 7: Pour into well buttered pam sprayed 1 quart casserole

  • Step 8: Top with the rest of the cheese

  • Step 9: Sprinkle on the paprika

  • Step 10: Bake at 325 for 25 minutes until cheese melts
