  • 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut, flaked
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar

  • Step 2: With 1/2 cup warm milk not just after scalding let cool some

  • Step 3: Now combine the shortening and 1/2 cup sugar Into the hot milk stir to combine and let cool

  • Step 4: Add the yeast mixture when proofed and milk mixture cooled down to warm

  • Step 5: Add eggs

  • Step 6: Add nutmeg beat

  • Step 7: Add salt to flour,they said you can add up to 8 cups

  • Step 8: You add flour gradually

  • Step 9: Add enough flour to make a soft dough

  • Step 10: Place in large bowl

  • Step 11: And put some melted shortening on the top

  • Step 12: Cover with damp towel and put in fridge overnight

  • Step 13: The next morning

  • Step 14: Take dough out and let rise in warm spot for 1 hour

  • Step 15: Roll out on floured board

  • Step 16: To 1/4 inch high

  • Step 17: Cut out with biscuit cutter and place on buttered cookie sheet

  • Step 18: Cover with damp cloth and let rise until double about 30 minutes

  • Step 19: Depress center of dough ball to accommodate 1 tablespoonfuls of which ever fillings you are putting in

  • Step 20: Then garnish with either coconut or walnut that have been finely chopped

  • Step 21: Let rise covered again for 30 minutes

  • Step 22: Preheat oven to 450 degrees

  • Step 23: Bake rolls for about 10 to 15minutes until lightly browned
