Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 ounces sliced bacon (2 strips, chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped, large
  • 2 carrots, chopped, large
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoons minced parsley
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 pound kohlrabi (peeled, diced, leaves if you have them)
  • 4 pound chicken, whole
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, optional

How to Make

  • Step 1: Saute bacon, remove from pan, save for later

  • Step 2: Add butter to bacon grease

  • Step 3: Add onion

  • Step 4: Add pepper

  • Step 5: Add celery and carrots

  • Step 6: Add garlic

  • Step 7: Add water and bouillon cubes

  • Step 8: Add chicken

  • Step 9: Cover, boil covered for 60 minutes until chicken is cooked

  • Step 10: Add kohlrabi boil for 10 minutes

  • Step 11: Meanwhile debone chicken and add the meat to the pot and cook 10 minutes

  • Step 12: Add parsley

  • Step 13: Add lemon juice

  • Step 14: Dish into bowls and top with bacon and sour cream (optional).
