  • 2 pounds cooking apples, peeled, pared and quartered
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 lemons
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 5 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mace
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place apples in a large pot. Cover with vinegar and sugar, mix well. Cook over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 40-45 minutes.

  • Step 2: Grate lemon rinds, then juice the lemons. Add both along with remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring continuously.

  • Step 3: Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Pour into jars and seal.
