  • 1/2 cup milk, scalded
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons yeast (1 package)
  • 1/2 cup water, lukewarm
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine milk,salt,shortening, sugar

  • Step 2: Let cool

  • Step 3: Add yeast to warm water

  • Step 4: Add to warm milk mixture

  • Step 5: Beat egg add to milk

  • Step 6: Add flour knead

  • Step 7: Cover ,let rise until double

  • Step 8: Roll into rectangle 1/2 inch thick

  • Step 9: Dot with butter

  • Step 10: Fold into 3rds

  • Step 11: To make 3 layers

  • Step 12: Cut in strips 1x6 inches

  • Step 13: And twist

  • Step 14: Place on greased cookie sheet

  • Step 15: Let rise until double, or light

  • Step 16: Bake 350 for15 or until lightly browned
