Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped ,medium)
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded American cheese
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 pound carrots, sliced
  • 1 pound green beans (cut into 2 inch pieces)
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: For the cream sauce: Heat butter and lard together,can just use butter

  • Step 2: Fry the onion until yellow

  • Step 3: Add flour. Cook minute. Add milk and cheese ,seasoning. Cook until thick

  • Step 4: Temper in the eggs

  • Step 5: In greased casserole layer the carrots green beans and sauce . Repeat

  • Step 6: Top with buttered bread crumbs

  • Step 7: Bake 60 minutes in 425 degree oven covered for 45 minutes. uncover last 15 minutes
