Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 pound beef brisket
  • 3 pounds beef soup bones
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 cups diced onions
  • 56 ounces tomatoes (2 cans 28 ounce each)
  • 3 pounds cabbage, shredded
  • 16 ounces beets (can)
  • 2 apples, diced (peeled)
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice

How to Make

  • Step 1: In stock pot add water, brisket and bones

  • Step 2: Cover bringing to a boil. Skim

  • Step 3: Simmer 90 minutes

  • Step 4: Add tomatoes and onions. Cook 30 minutes

  • Step 5: Add cabbage apples and seasoning

  • Step 6: Simmer on low stirring occasionally 45 minutes

  • Step 7: Add beets, sugar and lemon juice. Simmer15 minutes more
