  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Line 12 regular size muffin tins with paper liners.

  • Step 3: In a mixing bowl combine the flour with the next 6 dry ingredients.

  • Step 4: In a small bowl whisk the milk with egg, oil and vanilla

  • Step 5: Add the milk mixture to the dry mixture; whisk or beat on low speed of an electric mixture until combined.

  • Step 6: Mix in chocolate chips and nuts.

  • Step 7: Divide the batter between the muffin tins.

  • Step 8: Bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean (don't over bake).

  • Step 9: Cool and frost with favorite frosting.
