  • 1 pound dried red beans
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped)
  • 6 green onions, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley
  • 3 ounces sliced bacon (chopped, 3 strips)
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 ounces ham (chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak beans overnight with enough water to cover beans.

  • Step 2: In the morning drain beans.

  • Step 3: In a large stock pot, sauté the onions in lard.

  • Step 4: Add water then add the rest of the ingredients .

  • Step 5: Simmer on low, stirring occasionally, may need to add more water.

  • Step 6: Cook until creamy and thick.
