Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced thin
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (if needed)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt butter in a large frying pan; add onion and celery and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft.

  • Step 2: Remove pan from heat; stir in remaining ingredients except additional butter.

  • Step 3: Transfer oat mixture to a greased 2-quart casserole dish; smooth down top.

  • Step 4: Cover and bake at 350F for 1 hour, or until crisp on top and edges are browned.

  • Step 5: If dressing is too dry, drizzle with additional melted butter until desired moistness.
