Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 100 grams salami (sliced, coarsely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoon thyme (fresh, plus extr)
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Sea salt flakes, to taste
  • Butter, to serve

How to Make

  • Step 1: Grease and line base and sides of a 20cm round cake pan with baking paper.

  • Step 2: Combine flour in a large bowl with cheese, salami and thyme.

  • Step 3: Make a well in the centre and add combined milk and mustard and gently stir until mixture forms a soft, sticky dough.

  • Step 4: Turn out dough on to a lightly floured clean surface and light knead until smooth.

  • Step 5: Press over base of pan, and using a sharp knife, score top into eight equal wedges about 1cm deep and then sprinkle with salt and extra thyme and cook in a 200C oven for 35 minutes, or until golden brown and top sounds hollow when gently tapped with fingertips.

  • Step 6: Remove from oven and stand in pan for 5 minutes before turning out and cutting warm pull-apart into wedges and serve with butter.
