Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable oil)
  • 2/3 cup shallots, chopped
  • 1 bag (12 ounce) fresh cranberries
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons candied ginger, minced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a 3 quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat. Saute shallots, stirring constantly, until softened, about 3 minutes.

  • Step 2: Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer,uncovered until berries pop (stirring ocassionally), about 12 minutes. (It will look dry at first, but as the berries pop, their juices are released!)
