Step 1: Heat oil in a 3 quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat. Saute shallots, stirring constantly, until softened, about 3 minutes.
Step 2: Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer,uncovered until berries pop (stirring ocassionally), about 12 minutes. (It will look dry at first, but as the berries pop, their juices are released!)
