Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 200 grams fresh shrimp (peeled prawns)
  • 30 grams bacon (rind removed and chopped, 1 rasher)
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic chilli sauce (Lee Kum Kee brand recommeneded)
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger root
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 180 grams sliced whole wheat bread (6 slices, crusts removed and halved diagonally)
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil, to shallow-fry

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine prawns, bacon, onion, coriander, garlic chilli sauce, ginger and garlic in a food processor and process until combined.

  • Step 2: Spread prawn mixture onto each piece of bread.

  • Step 3: Place sesame seeds on a large flat plate and press bread, prawn side down, into sesame seeds to lightly coat.

  • Step 4: Heat enough oil in a large frying pan to reach a depth of 2cm and shallow fry prawn toasts in batches for 1 minute each side or until golden brown and cooked.

  • Step 5: Drain on paper towel before serving.
