Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cube (3.6 grams) beef bouillon (crumbled with a sharp knife)
  • 2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • FOR GRAVY
  • 2 yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart beef broth (you will have to eyeball this.

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine all the ingredients for the hamburger patties and mix thoroughly until combined

  • Step 2: Divide into 8 hamburger patties.

  • Step 3: Add oil to a skillet and cook over medium high heat until both sides are well browned.

  • Step 4: Remove the meat from the pan and reserve 2 Tbsp oil in pan.

  • Step 5: Add the onions.

  • Step 6: Cook for several minutes until very soft, stirring occasionally. Next add the minced garlic, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

  • Step 7: Then add in 2 Tbsp flour and whisk constantly for 1 minute or until it starts to turn lightly brown and the flour is blended.

  • Step 8: Now add in 2 cups of the beef broth, the worcestershire, ketchup and kitchen bouquet.

  • Step 9: Keep whisking for a minute then add the hamburger steaks back to the pan.

  • Step 10: Cover and simmer on medium/low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding extra beef broth as needed if it gets too thick.
