Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 packet (500 gram) chocolate cake mix
  • 180 grams butter, melted (plus extra for greasing)
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 packets (200 grams) caramel lollies
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup milk chocolate bits

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180C.

  • Step 2: Grease a 30 x 20 x 5cm slice tin and set aside.

  • Step 3: Put cake mix, melted butter and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk in the large mixing bowl of an electric mixer and beat on medium speed until smooth.

  • Step 4: Spread 3/4 of dough in prepared tin.

  • Step 5: In a large heavy based saucepan, cook and stir caramels and remaining evaporated milk over medium-low heat for 6 to 8 minutes until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth and then pour caramel mixture over dough and sprinkle with nuts and chocolate pieces.

  • Step 6: Dot remaining dough over layers in tin and bake for 25 minutes.

  • Step 7: Cool in tine on a wire rack and then cut into squares and serve.
