Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger root (peeled, grated)
  • 3/4 teaspoon cheat masala (available in Indian grocery stores)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Ground red pepper, dash
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon mint, minced
  • 1 serrano chile (minced and seeded)
  • 1 pint grape tomatoes (halved)
  • 4 cups cabbage (green cabbage, sliced)
  • 4 cups cabbage (red cabbage, sliced)
  • 1/3 cup peanuts (chopped, dry-roasted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a small skillet over medium heat heat the cumin and cook for 2 minutes or until dark golden, stirring constantly.

  • Step 2: In a large bowl combine the cumin and next 9 ingredients (- red pepper). Add onions and next 4 ingredients (--tomatoes); toss.

  • Step 3: Add cabbages and toss. Cover and chill for 4 hours. Sprinkle with peanuts.
