Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 450 grams self-rising flour (3 cups)
  • Salt, pinch of
  • 375 ml beer (golden ale, cold, 1 1/2 cups)
  • 75 grams butter, melted

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 200C and lightly butter and line a 20cm bread/loaf tin.

  • Step 2: Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and pop in a pinch of salt, then make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in the cold beer and gently mix until the dough is evenly combined.

  • Step 3: Pour the mixture into the prepared bread tin, then pour over the melted butter.

  • Step 4: Bake for 40 minutes.

  • Step 5: The loaf should have a beautiful golden crust and sound hollow when tapped.

  • Step 6: Stand on a wire rack and enjoy warm - realy nice toasted and buttered.
