Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 ounces sliced bacon (5 slices, chopped fine)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain dry breadcrumbs, might need a bit more)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or ground thyme)
  • 1/4 teaspoon savory
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, well beaten
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts (4 fillets, 4 ounce, pounded to 1/4 inch thickness)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 2 quart rectangle baking dish with cooking spray.

  • Step 2: While oven is preheating, cook bacon in a small skillet until almost crisp,remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.

  • Step 3: In a medium size bowl,combine breadcrumbs,thyme,savory,salt,pepper,and garlic powder.

  • Step 4: Dip chicken in beaten egg ,then in the breadcrumb mixture.

  • Step 5: Place into prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until tender.

  • Step 6: About 5 minutes before chicken is done,top each piece with equal amounts of cheese and bacon.

  • Step 7: Return to oven and bake until cheese melts.
