  • CRUST
  • 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • PIE
  • 2 cups hot milk
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten (save whites for the top)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How to Make

  • Step 1: CRUST: Mix the first three ingredients together well; press into a pie plate, saving about 3 tablespoons for the top; bake in 400 degree oven till golden, about 8 minutes.

  • Step 2: PIE: In a saucepan put the milk, sugar, cornstarch, salt, and beaten egg yolks; cook over medium heat till it begins to boil; simmer for about 1/2 to 1 minute and thickens and take off heat.

  • Step 3: Add the vanilla and let sit a few minutes while making the meringue.

  • Step 4: Whip egg whites using a couple tablespoons of sugar to make the meringue.

  • Step 5: Put the custard in the graham pie shell; add meringue and sprinkle the saved crumbs on top; bake at 400 degrees till golden.
