Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds bulk pork sausage (I used 1/2 pound bulk & 1 pound Breakfast Sausage Links,casings removed)
  • 1 cup finely chopped sweet onion
  • 2 cans (15 1/2 ounce) mixed beans (pinto/great northern)do not drain)
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounce) diced tomatoes (Fire roasted diced tomatoes with garlic)
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped green cabbage
  • 1 1/2 cups carrots (peeled, washed and sliced, not to thin)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a dutch oven over medium heat,add sausage and onion then cook until meat is lightly browned and onion is tender .

  • Step 2: If needed drain,then return to pan and add remaining ingredients and stir well.

  • Step 3: Bring to a boil ,cover and reduce heat to simmer for 50 minutes , stir occasionally until veggies are tender.
