Step 1: Preheat oven to 325°.
Step 2: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in flour.
Step 3: Press dough into an ungreased 9-inch square baking pan. Prick with a fork.
Step 4: Bake until light brown (30-35 min).
Step 5: Cut into squares while warm. Cool completely on a wire rack. If desired, dust lightly with powdered sugar.
