Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 vanilla bean (split lengthwise)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate (chopped, or semisweet chocolate, chopped)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Salt, pinch
  • Sweetened whipped cream, optional
  • Mini marshmallows, optional

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan over medium heat bring the milk almost to a simmer. Remove from heat. Scrape in . seeds from the vanilla bean and the cinnamon stick. Cover and let steep for 30 minutes. Remove vanilla bean and cinnamon stick.

  • Step 2: Bring cream to summer in a large saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat. Add chocolate, sugar and salt, whisk until chocolate melts.

  • Step 3: Gradually add milk mixture to chocolate mixture, whisking over medium heat until to and frothy (5 minutes). Pour hot chocolate into mugs, top with sweetened whipped cream or marshmallows and serve.
