Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage (Polish, or your favorite, cut in 1 1/2 to 2-inch pieces)
  • 1 bag (16 ounce) sauerkraut (fresh if possible if it is canned, make sure to rinse)
  • 3 potatoes, medium (peeled and diced)
  • 1 apple, Granny Smith (peeled and cut in wedges)
  • 1 onion, medium (cut in quarters and thin sliced)
  • 12 ounces beer (use 1/2 to 3/4 of a 12 ounce bottle amber beer, you can also use your favorite - but stay away from dark beer)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Garnish:
  • Dijon mustard
  • Horseradish
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sauce ... Add the mustard, beer, thyme, bay leaves, salt and pepper to a 13x9 baking dish and mix well. Then add in the sauerkraut, apple slices, potatoes, onion, and kielbasa. Mix to combine and cover with foil.

  • Step 2: Bake ... In a 350 degree oven on the middle shelf for 1 1/2 hours, covered until everything is tender. If you want, uncover it the last 10-15 minutes of cooking to brown up a bit.

  • Step 3: Serve ... Crusty bread is all I serve with this. If you want, mix equal parts mustard and horseradish, which makes a nice sauce to dip the kielbasa in. ENJOY!
