Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Panettone slices (small panettone, 8 slices 1/2 inch thick, or use 4 slices, 1/2 thick slices of a large panettone and cut in half cross-wise)
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons ground cardamom

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place pantone on a rimmed baking sheet and toast until light golden brown, turning once (10 minutes).

  • Step 2: While bread is toasting combine butter and orange peel in a bowl of an electric mixer and blend until smooth.

  • Step 3: On a dish mix together the sugar and cardamom (see note in description).

  • Step 4: Remove panettone from oven and spread one side of each slice with butter mixture and then press into the sugar mixture.

  • Step 5: Bake until topping bubbles (3-5 minutes).
