  • 2 cups sarsaparilla
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon treacle
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Dash of Tobasco sauce, to taste
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat and then reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer until reduced by half, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

  • Step 2: Check for seasoning and acidity and allow to cool for 10 minutes before pouring into airtight jar and storing in the refrigerator.

  • Step 3: Use as a basting sauce or directly as a dipping sauce.
