Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 red onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (red)
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 pound cooked turkey meat (sliced and cut into matchstick size strips)
  • 2/3 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite purchased brand)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (or turkey broth)
  • 4 (6 ounces) bread buns (sandwich buns, halved and toasted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a bowl combine first 3 ingredients (-vinegar) and let stand at room temperature until onion softened, tossing occasionally (2 hours or cover and chill for up to one day).

  • Step 2: In a skillet combine turkey, barbecue sauce and broth over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low; simmer until heated through, stirring often (5 minutes).

  • Step 3: Arrange bottoms of buns on plates. Spoon turkey mixture onto buns and using tongs, pile pickled-onion mixture atop turkey. Cover with top halves of buns.
