Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped yellow onion
  • 4 cups turnips (yellow turnips cooked and mashed)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large eggs (separated)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350.

  • Step 2: Over medium heat melt butter in a large saucepan, saute onion, add mashed turnips, salt, pepper, sugar and paprika, mix well.

  • Step 3: Beat egg yolks and add to mixture, remove from heat.

  • Step 4: Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry, fold into turnip mixture.

  • Step 5: Place in a greased 8 inch pie plate and bake in moderate 350 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
