Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 ounces sliced bread (8 slices soft white sandwich bread or any soft-crusted bread)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, diced
  • NOTE: amounts for filling are total guesses! You can use anything that sounds good to fill these little gems: Nutella & strawberries, peanut butter & jelly or bananas, raspberries & lemon curd, etc. You'll use about 2 teaspoons of each per bread slice.
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Remove crust from each slice of bread. Using a rolling pin, lightly flatten out each slice.

  • Step 2: Place about 1-2 teaspoons of chosen fillings on the outer edge of the bread in a strip. Roll up each bread slice jelly roll-style. Repeat with each bread slice.

  • Step 3: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon, then transfer to a plate.

  • Step 4: Melt some butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip each bread roll in the egg mixture, coating well. Place seam-side down in the skillet and cook all sides for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Add butter to the pan as needed.

  • Step 5: Immediately coat each cooked roll in cinnamon sugar. Serve with or without syrup for dipping.
