  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup molasses (dark)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream butter and sugar.

  • Step 2: Add beaten egg and molasses and other dry ingredients, sifted.

  • Step 4: Bake in moderate oven (375') till done, on well-greased sheet, about 9-10 minutes. This recipe takes 2 or 3 cookie sheets. They need watching to avoid overcooking.
