Step 1: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 2: Add eggs and vanilla and beat thoroughly.
Step 3: Add sifted dry ingredients in thirds with the apple sauce, beating until smooth after each addition.
Step 4: Stir in pecans.
Step 5: Drop from a teaspoon onto greased sheet(s), leaving about 2" between cookies. You might need 3 sheets.
Step 6: Bake at 375'-400' for 8-10 minutes or until delicately browned.
