Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 ounces unsalted butter (melted, 1 stick)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (heaping!)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (walnuts in original recipe)
  • 1 pound apples (2 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2" dice)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees with the rack in the center. Generously butter an 8x11 pan (I lined a 9x9 brownie pan with parchment, then buttered).

  • Step 2: Whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a medium bowl.

  • Step 3: In a separate, large bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar, and egg until pale. About 3 minutes. Add the pecans and the apples and stir until combined.

  • Step 4: Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until well combined.

  • Step 5: Spread the batter in the pan, making sure it is evenly spread. Bake until golden brown and slightly firm, about 40-45 minutes depending on your oven. Let cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes, then cut into bars.
